P
Pater Noster...
..is the vision of founders Iain & Joan Ogilvie whose faith-driven passion for people in need and distress, has grown the work since 1990. The current mission, which is now a registered charity in the uk, is the result of over 2 decades of humanitarian aid work in Romania but more recently they have expanded to include a major UK project called The Ministry of Food. In 2009 Iain took a catering trailer to Romania to be the basis of the ministry there. The idea was to provide regular food to homeless people and also those in underpriveleged communities (eg gipsy). PN workers in Romania were first on the streets as the winter arrived in Ploiesti. (bottom right); Regretfully, despite our best possible efforts, two homeless people lost their lives in the streets of Ploiesti; frozen to death in one of Europe's coldest winters.
From Spring 2010, we want to extend the service to the homeless by increasing the number of days that the van is out. Throughout the summer, PN workers will be on the streets providing support and food & drink to the poor. The workers will also direct aid to those who need it most. This may be clothes or shoes. This is the vision we want to develop and are currently looking for partners in Romania to make it a reality.
Our current workers have many other important aspects of their own expanding work to contend with, so it is unfair to expect them to do this in addition. We need to find two people who will contract with us to deliver the project.
